Breakfast Club
Breakfast Club at Leigh Academy Peninsula East is open to all children, including Nursery, and from Reception to Year 6.
Gates open at 7:45am and food is served until 8.15am.
Breakfast Club costs £5 a day. The cost is kept to a minimum to make it accessible to allow as many children as possible to have a good start to their school day. Sessions must be booked and paid for on the MyChildAtSchool (MCAS) app in advance. At Leigh Academy Peninsula East, we provide a healthy breakfast for children, alongside activities that they can take part in before school. Children come in and have their breakfast, then they have time to play. There are a variety of activities available each day such as board games, colouring and drawing.
Do children benefit?
There has been a wealth of research into the benefits of children having a good breakfast. These include:
- Improved concentration
- Improved attendance and punctuality
- Better behaviour
- Improved attainment and achievement at school.
Some children arrive at school hungry, so inviting pupils to the Breakfast Club ensures that they start the day with a proper breakfast, which has knock-on effects on their learning and behaviour. Teachers say that breakfast clubs have a noticeable impact on the children who attend. That hour before school is stress-free. There’s no need for hurrying or being late, because they are already there. They also have a nutritious breakfast and always start their day feeling calm and positive, ready for learning.
Extended After School Provision
Our After School Club runs from the end of every school day through until 3:15pm – 4:30pm. We understand children have been working hard at school and wish to relax and unwind at the end of the school day. Children will be provided with drinks and snacks, including a sandwich/wrap as well as a range of activities, these activities include board games, arts and crafts and imaginative play. The cost will be £8 per session per child. Children can be picked up at any time after 3pm until 4.30pm and do not need to stay the whole time.
Sessions must be booked and paid for on the MyChildAtSchool (MCAS) app in advance.
Wednesday’s wraparound care
Please remember to book your child onto the wraparound care if needed on Wednesdays from 2pm – 3.15pm. You will need to book this on the MCAS app. There will be two options to choose from: 2pm-3:15pm at a cost of £5 or 2pm until 4.30pm at a cost of £10.
